With over 10 years of experience working with families, adults, and children I am confident that most anyone can get through life's trials with the right support. As a helper I look guide you as you identify, and confront, issues that may be feeding addiction, abusive and stagnant relationships, or simply discouragement. Professionally, I have worked closely with anxiety, depression, and PSTD in outpatient and inpatient settings and also offer continuing care groups. I have extensive experience with military and immigrant families.
Yonie K Ledward-Herrera, MAC, LMHC, has extensive experience working with local and military populations. She specializes in Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Substance Use Disorder (SUD), anxiety, and depression. Apart from specific diagnosis, she also is versed with populations that are experiencing unforeseen transitions, like traumatic events, loss of a loved one, divorce (and subsequent co-parenting), and simply an inability to find satisfaction in life and relationships. Yonie is comfortable working with all ages and ethnic groups. Prior to beginning her own private practice she worked many hours in a hospital setting leading Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) groups. In addition to her clinical hours, Yonie had worked closely with the state as a child development specialist, clinical specialist, and certified substance abuse counselor. She supported programs aimed at reunifying families, identifying children that were deemed at risk, and linking individuals to the appropriate levels of care/resources.
Yonie’s understanding of SUD and PSTD/Anxiety/Depression as a co-occuring disorders is her strongest component to her practice. She works not only with her patients, but is currently a trainer with the State of Hawaii’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division (ADAD). Her continuing care groups in Wahiawa meet the needs of those struggling with said diagnosis using a Dual-Diagnosis Enhanced (DDE) format.
